Mark is woven into the fabric of the battered women’s movement”, said Lynn Rosenthal, our country’s first White House adviser on violence against women. He is a national trainer to police executives, patrol officers, training officers, prosecutors, judges, legislators, social service providers, healthcare professionals and victim advocates in all fifty states. As a Fulbright Specialist for the Department of State he has lectured and trained at police academies worldwide. For over thirty years he as advised and trained for the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Department of Justice’s Office of Victims of Crime, Office of Violence Against Women and the Civil Rights Division, on the topic of gender-based violence and officer involved interpersonal violence. He is a survivor, enabling him to teach both effectively and passionately. In short, he is devoted to ending domestic/sexual, elder and child abuse as a police officer, detective, educator, program supervisor and now consultant and advisor while traveling 2,478,313 miles to all 50 states and 16 other countries to guide 1,250 cities, towns, and villages to strengthen their response to investigate, and prevent interpersonal violence.

• Twenty-one-year member of the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department – Served as Lieutenant to the Domestic Violence Division – member of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team for fifteen years.

Ramani Durvasula, Ph.D.

Ramani Durvasula, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist in California, the founder and CEO of LUNA Education, Training and Consulting, and professor emerita of psychology at California State University Los Angeles. She is the New York Times Bestselling Author of It’s Not You: Identifying and Healing from Narcissistic People. She is also the author of multiple other books including “Don’t You Know Who I Am”: How to Stay Sane in the Era of Narcissism, Entitlement and Incivility and Should I Stay or Should I Go: Surviving a Relationship With a Narcissist. She has lectured and trained therapists around the world on best practices on working with clients experiencing narcissistic abuse and has developed a 36 hour virtual training and certification program in conjunction with PESI to train clinicians on how to use an Antagonism-Informed approach with clients experiencing narcissistic relationships. Dr. Durvasula hosts a popular YouTube channel with over 1.7 million subscribers, maintains a program offering support and education to thousands of survivors, and is a featured expert on the digital media platform MedCircle. She also maintains an engaged online network called the Dr. Ramani Network. She has also been widely involved in the governance of the American Psychological Association, including the APA Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology and the APA Minority Fellowship Program. Dr. Durvasula received her M.A., and Ph.D. degrees in clinical psychology from UCLA, and completed her internship and post-doctoral training at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute. She completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology, with a minor in sociology in 1988 at the University of Connecticut. She resides in Los Angeles, CA.

Rosia Frater, PhD., LPC

Dr. Rosia Frater is a licensed professional counselor with over seven years of experience in the field of trauma and mental health. Currently, she serves as the clinical director at the Children’s Advocacy Center for Kaufman County, where she seeks to help fulfill her organization’s goal of providing justice, hope, and healing services to children and families who have been impacted by abuse. Likewise, she is an adjunct professor at the University of Mary, where she supervises clinical interns, teaches graduate counseling courses, and ensures compliance with ethical standards while maintaining a positive educational environment that fosters professional growth and development.
Dr. Frater holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas State University, a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University, and a PhD from Texas Christian University in Counseling and Counseling Supervision. She is currently pursuing extensive post-graduate training in trauma interventions and approaches such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), EMDR, and neuroscience psychotherapy. She has dedicated her career to helping individuals and communities heal from the effects of trauma and is zealous about integrating research-based practices with compassionate care.
As a passionate speaker, Dr. Frater has presented at local and international conferences, workshops, and training sessions, sharing insights on trauma, racial relations, and ethics. Her engaging style and ability to distill complex concepts into practical strategies make her a valuable resource for both professional and casual junctures.
In addition to Dr. Frater’s work in clinical and academic settings, she is an advocate for mental health awareness and racial healing and transformation. She has contributed to research projects aimed at promoting understanding and awareness of trauma and racial healing. She has published her dissertation titled Re-Examining Multicultural Courses: Centering the Voices of Counselors of Color in Training, which looks at the lived experiences of students of color working with white clients.
When not immersed in her professional endeavors, Dr. Frater finds joy in exploring new places, reading, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She believes that these personal experiences contribute significantly to her overall well-being and perspective on healing, fostering a sense of connection with her audience. -

Deena Shelton, PhD, LPC-S, ACS is the Director of Clinical Training and Associate Professor of Counseling at LeTourneau University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and Counselor Educator specializing in couples and family counseling, adoption and foster care, lifespan development and family/community system influence on trauma treatment, technology use in counseling and higher education, program, and program development. Her background work includes higher education administration, counseling in private practice and university settings, career counseling, nonprofit management, community service agencies including foster care/adoption, grant writing and management, state and federal funded programs, and community-based crime prevention.
She enjoys volunteering in her community, training and encouraging helpers to be leaders and advocates, and empowering others to find their unique ways of contributing to the overall health and wellness in their communities. She has been married for 18 years and has two children, Banks (16) and Everly (14). When she’s not working, she enjoys baking, reading, traveling, music, and art. -
Kendra Eggleston, M.A.

Kendra Eggleston (M.A.) is the Training & Campus Specialist for the Stalking, Prevention, Awareness, and Resource Center (SPARC). In her role, Kendra specializes in working with colleges and universities to develop effective campus stalking resources. Kendra designs and delivers dynamic trainings to equip students, staff, and faculty with tools to recognize and respond to the unique dynamics of campus stalking and advocate for victims and survivors on campuses.
Kendra has a longstanding passion for advocacy in higher education. Prior to joining the SPARC team, Kendra served as Assistant Director of Student Advocacy Services at The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), overseeing the Relationship Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention (RVSP) Program. In this position, Kendra developed educational trainings and programmed campus outreach events around sexual and relationship violence prevention and victim/survivor support for the UTA campus and Tarrant County community. She also had the privilege of mentoring a team of Peer Educators, college students who were leading the movement to end campus gender-based violence and advocating for their peers who identify as victims and/or survivors. Additionally, she supported other programs under Student Advocacy Services, including the LGBTQ+ program, the Maverick Food Pantry, and the Emergency Assistance Program, as well as served on the Behavior Intervention Team. Before UTA, Kendra worked at Hill College as the Perkins Grant Coordinator, supporting historically underserved community college students pursuing career and technical education degrees. Kendra also served as the Academic Coordinator at College Living Experience in Austin, Texas, where she provided academic advocacy and independent living support for college students on the autism spectrum.
Kendra received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas A&M University and a Master of Arts in Counseling from St. Edward’s University. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Learning and Organizational Change from Baylor University, with a goal of enhancing her knowledge and skills to create significant and lasting change in the movement to end gender-based violence. Kendra is based in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area. -
Detective Joseph Scaramucci

Detective Scaramucci (RET) began his career in law enforcement in 2004, and was promoted to Detective in 2008 with the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office, investigating Crimes Against Persons. Since creating a Human Trafficking Unit in 2014, Detective Scaramucci has conducted sting operations resulting in the arrest of more than 680 sex buyers, more than 100 online child predators, and 163 individuals for human trafficking and related offenses, which has led to the identification of 285 trafficking victims. He has further assisted local, state, and federal agencies with operations; support, leading to the arrest of more than 300 sex buyers. In 2023 Detective Scaramucci began working as the Director of Law Enforcement Training and Operations for the non-profit Skull Games, Inc, continuing to conduct operations and investigations as a Deputy Sheriff. Detective Scaramucci has worked both state and federal investigations as a Task Force Officer with H.S.I., leading to investigations and arrests throughout the U.S. He further advises and participates in sting operations throughout Texas, the U.S. and abroad. Detective Scaramucci is certified in Courts of Law as a Subject Matter Expert in Human Trafficking. He has further advised and testified in the State House and Senate, assisting with the creation and passage of laws leading to harsher penalties for human trafficking, as well as working against laws that would have added further burdens on victims. He is further employed as a consultant, contracted to provide training and technical assistance for numerous Department of Justice-funded Enhanced Collaborative Model task forces, as well as other national and international anti-trafficking organizations. He has trained 726 agencies throughout 45 states, 33 federal and DOD agencies, as well as law enforcement agencies in 15 countries, and provides technical support for their human trafficking operations and Investigations

Rev. Geneece Goertzen, LMSW/MDiv

Rev. Geneece Goertzen, LMSW/MDiv, is a PhD candidate at the Garland School of Social Work at Baylor University, and a Research Fellow for the Center for Church and Community Impact. She has taught numerous workshops on domestic violence, serves on the board of directors for the Family Abuse Center in Waco, has testified before the state legislature on bills that affect victims and survivors, and served on the public policy committee for TCFV. She has researched multiple aspects of the church’s response to abuse, as well as how churches and faith affect resilience and healing. Her recent book, titled Taking it Seriously, is a guide for responding to domestic violence. As a survivor of more than two decades of abuse, she is passionate about awareness, advocacy, and conducting continued research on this topic.
